Last weekend we headed over to the Bay Area to visit my mom a week before her birthday. If she was with us today, I’m sure she wouldn’t have minded the early visit. Before paying our respects, we headed down to North Beach to check out to local restaurants and attractions. A lot has changed since we last visited the area 5+ years ago.
The restaurants were packed with people, there were new shops, and there was a good mix of all kinds of people. It was a good experience for the kids. I like exposing them to the diversity of San Francisco. Usually when we go to the Bay Area we head to familiar places such as Chinatown, Japantown, and shopping malls. This time it was a good change with our North Beach visit.
After North Beach we took a detour to Coit Tower. Another nice tourist spot but also a place of fond memories of my high school days. Not many changes, same gorgeous views.
Of course our visit could not complete without visiting mom and our normal stop at Japantown. We visited more shops this time since the kids are into anime.
What was also different this trip is that we stopped by Burlingame Ave. in Burlingame. I didn’t realize they now have a farmer’s market there on Sunday. They have a lot of good vendors with unique items, fresh fruits and vegetables, as you’d expect, but in the middle of high end stores and restaurants. It was surely nice living there back in the day.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable trip. We’ll be back!
