Actually, it was a very quiet year for us. Nothing too exciting happened except for our trips to Disneyland and our usual trip to the Bay Area. I would say the highlight of the year as been our time spent with family. There is nothing that can replace family time. Not a far away trip or shiny new toy. From New Year’s to Christmas, family gatherings has always been fun and festive. We look forward to another family filled year. More to come on this later….
This year has been a year of ups and downs. Unfortunately, the vicious cycle is always about money and the lack of it. Sure we can have family events, but you know it costs money to feed everyone. It cost money to eat out to celebrate someone’s birthday or special event. It costs money to buy gas to get where you want to go. Everything costs money. It’s been our focus this year and I am sure it will continue to be our focus here on out.
One highlight that didn’t cost us money, but required our patience was potty training Justice and Jasmine. Having 2 kids in diapers at the same time was a strain financially. We’re happy that at least Jasmine is now fully potty trained. Justice still has a ways to go. He’s trying though. We just have to keep bribing him with gummy bears and chocolate.
Another highlight of 2012 was a yearly trip to the wine country. This time we ventured off to Sonoma. As usual we bought the Passport deal, which gives us basically a two for one deal on wine tasting at select wineries in Sonoma. I highly recommended these Passport deals. You can buy them for different regions of the wine valley. Even though the weather was not great, it was still a nice get-a-way. Of course we could never leave the wine country without stopping by Gott’s Roadside. They are the bomb at hamburgers, especially their Ahi Tuna Burger. If you go to their Napa location then be sure to stop by the Oxbow Market next door and go to Kara’s Cupcakes. You MUST have one of their cupcakes with a Ritual coffee. I thought I died and went to Heaven. Seriously.
Other than our short trips and my truck being broken into this year, not much happening. I guess that’s a good thing.
God Bless the 20 children and 6 adults killed at Newtown, CT. and their families. We were sad for days after this tragic event.
Lastly, our biggest highlight this year was the news that we are expecting again. Just when we thought we were out of diapers lol. At least it’s just one baby this time, thank God.
